CALM Art Collective at The Other Art Fair

The CALM Art Collective brings together artists and art lovers to explore life issues, wellbeing and mental health through the medium of art – creating, sharing, chatting and campaigning. Last week we took the Art Collective to The Other Art Fair and exhibited some incredible work from CALM supporters...

Our Art Collective partners, The Other Art Fair, presented 120 talented emerging artists and our very own CALM Art Collective members featured alongside them. The exhibition featured workshops, first-time artists, and great conversation - not to mention raising over £1000 and counting for CALM!

CALM supporter, artist and poet GOMMIE was also at the exhibit creating exclusive large scale visual poetry in a drop in workshop.

Gommie wasn't always this confident about sharing his pieces though. He said: “I don’t know why, but I used to hide it under my bed.”

In his twenties he hit some low points, but would always keep diaries - it was his place of solace. But things started to change when he shared his work.

Now, he travels the country creating his larger than life artwork. Working with people from all walks of life, Gommie is walking the country, camping and creating artwork on large scale ordnance maps. Why? “It feels fucking great!”, he says. His advice? “Don’t sit inside yourself and feel fear - get up, get out and make some art”.
